Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to share the latest newsletter of the United Nations Global Geodetic Centre of Excellence. In this issue, Member States back a consultation on global geodesy governance, and the State of Geodesy 2026 sets the baseline for that work.
Highlights:

Outcomes of the 16th session of UN-GGIM: This past August, the UN-GGIM Committee of Experts agreed to move forward with a structured consultation on options for international governance for geodesy. The consultation will involve Member States, the scientific community and the private sector, with support from UN-GGCE.

State of Geodesy 2026 and the UN-GGCE Highlights Report 2024–2026: Together, these reports give a shared evidence base on the global geodesy supply chain and on the Centre's progress since it began full operations. Both are available on our website<https://www.un.org/globalgeospatial/en/centre-of-excellence/geodesy#tab-documents>.

DVW 2026 Future Prize: UN-GGCE has received the 2026 Future Prize of the DVW, the German Association for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management. The jury recognized the Centre's support to countries in building critical geodetic infrastructure and strengthening international cooperation.
