We hope that more papers will be contributed to this special issue with this extension. Papers are invited for a special topical issue of Advances in Space Research (ISI journal) entitled "GNSS Remote Sensing: New Roles and Progresses". Manuscripts on both scientific GNSS research results and technology/models development issues are appropriate for this special publication. Particularly new GNSS technology, theory, algorithm and models, GNSS reflectometry/remote sensing capabilities and progresses for the ice/snow/soil moisture, ionospheric and atmospheric sounding, ocean surface characteristics, GPS-seismometer and tsunami warning systems and integrated approaches/results in synthesizing various remote-sensing measurements (GPS, in-situ tide-gauge observations, SAR, scatterometry, satellite altimetry and satellite gravimetry) are welcome as well as new GNSS receivers/systems design and opportunities for future missions. All the bests!
