Message-ID: From: Tim.Springer@esa.int Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2008 10:29:11 +0200 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Sender: owner-igsmail Precedence: bulk ****************************************************************************** IGS Electronic Mail 26 Sep 01:29:24 PDT 2008 Message Number 5834 ****************************************************************************** Author: Tim Springer Dear IGS colleagues, Yesterday, September 25, Russia has launched three more GLONASS satellites. Currently there are 14 active GLONASS satellites plus 1 satellite in maintenance and 1 in decommissioning. So the number of GLONASS satellites should rise to 17 satellites and maybe even 18. The next GLONASS launch is planned, as is almost tradition, around Christmas this year, which will increase the number of active GLONASS satellites even further. For more information on this launch see: http://russianforces.org/blog/2008/09/successful_launch_of_three_glo.shtml http://spaceflightnow.com/news/n0809/25glonass/ Cheers, Tim --------------------- Tim Springer Navigation Support Office, OPS-GN (nng.esoc.esa.de) European Space Operations Centre Robert Bosch Strasse 5 64293 Darmstadt Germany Tel: +49-6151-90-2029 Fax: +49-6151-90-3129
