It's been a great job, and I still feel amazed and lucky that I was chosen for it! I knew I liked learning about interesting places and languages (and I'll apologize now to anyone whose language I've tried to speak), but I underestimated how I would come to have so many people from so many places as colleagues and friends. And this counts for a lot of people I've never met; I never stopped getting a kick out of receiving email from faraway places and thinking how nice it is that people around the world participate in the IGS. Although the to-do list for the network coordinator was never in danger of getting too short, I think we accomplished a lot since 1998, thanks to the combined efforts of site managers and analysts. Ruth will be along to tell you about the next phase of network coordination when it's all set. As for me, I'm not going far: I'm now part of the Geodynamics and Space Geodesy Group here at JPL and will be working on various aspects of GPS analysis, so it's my hope and expectation that I'll continue to run into IGS folks from time to time. I'll be helping the CB in the transition and keeping the basic NC functions going until it's complete. Please use the igscb@igscb.jpl.nasa.gov address for contacting the CB, since that address will connect to the right person(s) as we transition.
