It is about 20 km north of CHAT, the current IGS site, but has a better monument and is on volcanic bedrock. Our long-term aim is for CHTI to be the IGS site on Chatham Island, and for CHAT to be discontinued. However, we will keep CHAT going for at least the next 18 months provided there are no equipment failures. We will apply to the IGS for CHTI to be accepted as an IGS station and will send around another notice when this has happened. We will also notify the IGS Station list as soon as an IGS-style station log is available for CHTI.
