Preference will be given to candidates who have achieved excellence in research areas that complement the ongoing research activity at York University. Earth Science and Geomatics Engineering research is carried out within the Department of Earth and Space Science & Engineering (www.yorku.ca/esse). Current research includes remote sensing of Earths surface and atmosphere from space, development of technology for lidar and spectroscopic techniques in remote sensing, synthetic aperture radar, space geodesy and geodynamics, geological applications of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and the development of new GIS techniques. Applications for an Assistant Professor appointment are invited from candidates with expertise in one or more of the following specializations: geodesy, positioning and navigation, geodynamics and/ or geophysics, photogrammetry and remote sensing, geohazards and disaster mitigation. (Ref.# GE06GEO). The candidate must hold earned undergraduate and PhD degrees in Engineering, or a closely related discipline. The successful candidate shall demonstrate commitment to the engineering profession by being licensed as a Professional Engineer, or by becoming licensed soon after appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to develop strong, externally funded research programs, and contribute to teaching Engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate should be eligible for appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. This position is to commence July 1, 2007, and is subject to budgetary approval.
