Demonstrated expertise in real-time positioning technologies is required. Research expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable: real-time GNSS positioning, geo-referencing and mobile mapping, urban navigation with multi-sensors and map matching, and wireless locations. Knowledge in advanced estimation and optimization methods and programming skill with C/C++ are advantages. The position is expected to lead the development of internal and external funded projects and support the head of department to develop the department-level research programs. The Department of Navigation and Positioning is actively participating in Galileo R&D projects and projects funded by the European Space Agency. It has the state-of-the-art navigation equipments ranging from geodetic class GPS receivers, tactical class IMU, data servers to pocket PCs, GPS OEM boards and mobile phones. The Finnish Geodetic Institute is a research institute for mapping sciences. It carries out measurements for the purpose of basic research and engages in research work in the fields of geodesy, geoinformatics, remote sensing, navigation and other related sciences.
