From the point of view of science: This is a truly enormous event, and there have been quite a few stations occupied either in campaign mode or permanently in Indonesia. the geodetic signals should extend at least 1,000 km from the epicenter --- at least in the direction of rupture--- I think it is essential that such data should be collected and archived, together with the post-seismic data, recorded as densely as possible, in both space and time.
