THU1 was established in 1995 in a corporation between KMS and JPL, and has been of great importance to the IGS community. The reason for discontinued operation of THU1 is that a new station THU3 43001M002 was established in 1998. This station has a better monumentation by a concrete pillar founded on bedrock, whereas THU1 is roofmounted on a house standing on frozen soil. The future of this house is uncertain and the changeover from THU1 to THU3 has been planned for quite some time. Analysis Centers should begin to use THU3 data in lieu of that from THU1 if they have not made the change already. THU1 and THU3 has been running in parallel for quite some time, and a local tie has been established analyzing data from more than a full year. Please refer to the THU3 station log for further information. Best regards Finn Bo Madsen (KMS) and David Stowers (JPL)
