During this period the present head of GFZ's IGS Analysis Center (AC) has to be replaced by a new person. The candidate is expected to take over this leading role for the next four years. TASKS: The candidate will lead the operation of the GFZ IGS Analysis Center and shall be engaged in the quality control of the routine products and the development of improved IGS products according to the directions given in the IGS strategy plan 2002 to 2007. He/she should further develop existing software and represent the GFZ-AC in the IGS. QUALIFICATION: Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in geodesy, physics, mathematics or a related field. Very good knowledge in GPS data use for GPS orbit and Earth parameter estimation is required. The position requires very good computer programming knowledge in FORTRAN and UNIX. Communication skills, very good command of German and English are required. The ability to work in a team and in international working groups of the IGS are indispensible. The position can be filled from January 1, 2003 for a period of 4 years. Salary is based on the wage agreement of the German civil service (Ib BAT-O).
