Date: Mon, 4 Nov 2002 09:40:55 -0800 (Pacific Standard Time) From: Geoff Blewitt To: igsmail@igscb.jpl.nasa.gov Subject: [IGSMAIL-4142]: Advisory: Co-seismic displacement of FAIR Message-ID: Sender: owner-igsmail Precedence: bulk ****************************************************************************** IGS Electronic Mail 04 Nov 09:43:29 PST 2002 Message Number 4142 ****************************************************************************** Author: Geoff Blewitt 2002/11/03 22:12 M 7.9 CENTRAL ALASKA Z= 10km 63.74N 147.69W This is an advisory to warn users of IGS data (including IGS Analysis Centers) that the IGS station FAIR is expected to have significant co-seismic displacement due to a magnitude 7.9 earthquake which occurred at 2002/11/03 22:12:40 UTC, centered approximately 120 km south of Fairbanks, Alaska. Post-seismic motion might also be expected. More information on the earthquake is given below from the USGS. For purposes of IGS orbit determination, I suggest that data from FAIR on UTC day 2002/11/03 not be processed from 22:00 to the end of the day. I would also recommend not using FAIR for transformations of fiducial-free solutions into ITRF2000. This is sent as an early warning for informational purposes only - the Analysis Coordinator no doubt will recommend a course of action. ________________________________ Geoff Blewitt-Research Professor www.nbmg.unr.edu/staff/geoff.htm Nevada Bureau of Mines & Geology and Seismological Laboratory University of Nevada, Reno Mail Stop 178 Reno, NV 89557-0088 (775)784-6691 x171 fax (775)784-1709 gblewitt@unr.edu ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Sun, 3 Nov 2002 15:47:24 -0700 (MST) From: Do_Not_Reply@gldmutt.cr.usgs.gov To: undisclosed-recipients: ; Subject: 2002/11/03 22:12 M 7.9 CENTRAL ALASKA Z= 10km 63.74N 147.69W 2002/11/03 22:12 M 7.9 CENTRAL ALASKA Z= 10km 63.74N 147.69W This information is provided by the USGS National Earthquake Information Center.
