Call for Input 1 Cc: kgowey@jpl.nasa.gov, marilyn.e.morgan@jpl.nasa.gov Sender: owner-igsmail Precedence: bulk ****************************************************************************** IGS Electronic Mail 07 May 16:46:00 PDT 2001 Message Number 3316 ****************************************************************************** Author: IGS Central Bureau Date: May 7, 2000 From: Ruth E. Neilan To: IGS Contributors Subject: IGS 2000 Technical Report Input Submission Due Date for 2000: Friday, June 22, 2001 <<<---- Dear Friends and Colleagues, It is time for the IGS 2000 Technical Report process to begin, but first an update. The 1999 TR is available in PDF format on the IGS website under publications: http://igscb.jpl.nasa.gov/overview/pubs.html We plan to print hardcopies in early June. One advantage of the website/PDF file is that a number of the plots and figures are in color, while the printed version will be in black and white. The 1999 TR is over 450 pages. It includes two additional sections that include the proceedings from the LEO Workshop in Potsdam, March 1999 and the AC Workshop in La Jolla, June 1999. I think you will find this a comprehensive reference for the activities in 1999. The 1999 Annual Report, the shorter executive version will be in print very soon. I offer sincere apologies for the delay in these important publications due to budget juggling last year and this year. Publications 2000 ------------------ Proceedings from the Network Workshop in Oslo, July 2000 will also be available soon. These are being handled by an outside publisher, Elsevier, and details on obtaining copies will follow as soon as available. The AC Workshop at USNO in September 2000 are being printed externally by 'GPS Solutions' and should also be available in the very near future. The IGEX proceedings was published in 2000 and all of the 500 copies that were printed have already been distributed. It seems to be a very popular document and we hope to be able to print additional hardcopies to fulfill the many requests that we receive. Note that all IGS publications are on the website. We are planning to master a CD with IGS documents as a more cost effective medium for certain distributions. We continue to provide the IGS publications -- this demand seems only to increase. In this regard we try to honor requests especially from libraries, universities and places where internet connectivity is poor. Otherwise, requestors are directed to the IGS website. In 2002 we hope to master a CD that will contain all IGS publications to date to commemorate the ten year anniversary of the IGS Pilot Project, the birth of the IGS. 2001 -- Annual/Technical Reports for 2000 -------------------------------------------- This year the IGS Annual Report Series will continue with the established format of two volumes -- the summary Annual Report of about 30 pages, and the in-depth Technical Report with ~250 pages. This message solicits your input for the 2000 IGS Technical Report (TR). The TR is an in-depth report that documents the key technical developments and general status of ALL IGS components. It is targeted to 'expert' users and IGS components, but freely available to anyone. This year the Central Bureau will again manage the production of the volume. The IGS TR will be handled in parallel with the Annual Report (AR). We plan to have both volumes available in time for the IAG meeting in Budapest early September. We are also in the process of updating the IGS Directory and preparing it for distribution and for the website. Report Details ------------------- Below you can see the proposed Table of Contents. This being the annual report for 2000 please REPORT ONLY FOR THAT YEAR -- however, if you did not submit last year, you may prepare a report covering both years. -->>>> It is our intent to ensure <<<<< --- that the committed components of the IGS document their status, processes and developments annually. Authors not listed below should feel free to contribute if appropriate by following the guidelines. If a different author than listed below will be contributing for your organization, please advise the CB so that we may update this table. Miscellaneous Contributions INSTRUCTIONS AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINES We will refine/clarify details for submitting files for the 2000 Technical Reports in the very near future. Our editor Ken Gowey will continue working with us again this year. Due to security restrictions for anonymous ftp file placements, you will be advised of the process in the next few weeks. Please remember that all documents will be combined into a single styled volume in the standard IGS format. Text files with separate graphics are greatly appreciated. Any questions can be addressed to Ken Gowey at (818) 354-4532 or (kgowey@jpl.nasa.gov). Ken will be away on vacation for the next two weeks. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated (in advance) and we look forward to working with you on this project. We can only meet this schedule if everyone cooperates. Apologies if you receive duplicate copies of this message. Comments, questions or feedback are very welcome. sincerely, Ruth Distribution: IGSMail,IGSCB, IGS GB, ACs, AACs, Datat Center contacts, IGS Station Operators. IGS Governing Board, 2000 - 2001 Dist.
