Sorry about that! Carey. ----- Gerd, Happy New Year! And forgive my late response to your email requesting session ideas for the May IGS workshop. I sent an inquiry to the IGS Data Center WG, including suggestions for a possible data center-related session. I did not receive alot of feedback but what discussions I did have concerned some proposals you are familiar with regarding changing how we name data and product files at the data centers. I believe that rather than devote an entire session to this topic (and bore the audience ;), we could combine this discussion with another session. We could develop a position paper with the proposal(s), have an oral presentation on the paper, and then devote a poster or two that go into more details and give people more time to digest the concepts. We may also want to tackle a discussion on changing compression schemes at the data centers. Both of these proposals have far-reaching impacts on not only the users but on the entire IGS infrastructure. I would appreciate your thoughts on this co-session idea.
