Subject: MDOA IGEX Site

Dear colleagues,

The Center for Space Research has installed a Javad Positioning
Systems Legacy GPS/GLONASS dual-frequency receiver at an auxiliary site at
McDonald Observatory, Fort Davis, TX, USA. The antenna is placed over an
existing marker which has a pre-surveyed tie to MDO1. The log sheet
is given below and will be posted at http://lareg.ensg.ign.fr/IGEX.

The antenna characteristics of the Javad RegAnt have not been validated
and the L1/L2 phase centers are taken from software that was
distributed with the receiver. Please read the log file below for
more information regarding the JPS RegAnt. (Also, please note that the
antenna height given in both the Rinex Obs. files and the log file
are to the antenna reference point as shown in the diagram at the
bottom of the log file.)

The receiver has been operational and collecting data since Nov 19,
1998. The rinex'ed data has been uploaded to the cddis / datain
directory under the Rinex naming convention of SSSS = mdoa.

Sincerely,

Steve Nerem (nerem@csr.utexas.edu)

Additional Information : The antenna type does not have a phase center
calibration by Gerry Mader. The "Pinnacle"
                                software included with the receiver/antenna
states that the vertical distance from the
antenna reference point to both the L1 and L2
phase centers is 0.0730 m. (See below for a
diagram of the offset.) The total vertical
offset for the station mark, for both L1 and
                                L2 phase centers, is thus, 1.0754 m
                                ( 1.0754m = 1.0024m + 0.0730m).
