The workshop is being jointly organised with the Space Research Institute of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology and is co-sponsored by Space Imaging Middle East. Further information can be obtained by contacting Ms. Raechelle Newman (raechelle.newman@unvienna.org) Expert Meeting on the "Use of Available Global Landsat Data Sets for Meeting the Information Needs of NEPAD" - Dakar, Senegal 3 November 2003 The above Expert Meeting is being organised as a Pre-Conference Meeting of the AfricaGIS '03 Conference.This meeting will bring together 30 experts representing Western African and Regional Institutions to define possible projects that take advantage of the available global data sets and also to discuss a strategy to promote the wider use of the available data. If your institution is interested in getting involved and participating in this Pre-Conference Expert Meeting then please send me an e-mail asap (david.stevens@unvienna.org). Expert Meeting on "Space Technology for Flood and Fire Management" - Cordoba, Argentina - 24-26 November 2003 Argentina's Comision Nacional de Actividades Espaciales (CONAE) will be hosting the next Expert Meeting. The venue will be the Instituto de Altos Estudios Espaciales "Mario Gulich" in Cordoba and the meeting will take place from 24-26 November 2003. The focus of this meeting will be the use of space technology for early warning of floods (including the Del Plata Basin Project) and early warning of fires (including a discussion on the Latin American Fire Risk Map). For this meeting 25 experts will be invited from institutions that are currently developing projects or are interested in developing projects within the extended Southern Cone region (Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia and Brazil). International Course on Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems - CRECTEALC, Brazil - 8 March - 3 December 2004 The Brazilian Campus of the UN-Afilliated Centro Regional de Educacio em CieAncia e Tecnologia Espaciais para America Latina e o Caribe (CRECTEALC) will be receiving until 31 October 2003 applications for the above 1-year post-graduate level course in remote sensing and GIS.
